Copper is the essential resource for weapons development and construction. While copper is used for nearly all development aspects of the game, it is most used when making weapons and building military improvements for battle. Copper is the most expensive resource to buy from the market, and copper mines take longer to build than the other resources.

Sometimes the game refers to copper as "iron", such as spy reports and exploration reports.

Copper mines are required to complete the Foundation, Quartermaster and Logistics tasks.
