For more information on templates, see Help:Templates.

There are many templates in use in War of Legends Wiki; these are only a subset, representing some of the most important and commonly used ones. If you feel that a template belongs on this page, do not hesitate to add it.

  • Category:Templates should cover all templates in the wiki, categorised into the various subcategories.
  • The Template namespace (found from Special:Allpages) always has all templates in the wiki, sorted alphanumerically.

What are templates?Edit

Wiki templates provide a means to insert the same content over and over in different (or the same) pages. This saves editors the hassle of duplicating the same text again and again, and also helps ensure consistency.

Templates are generally shown with the format required to use the template (e.g. {{stub}}). Clicking the template name takes you to the template's page, where you can see what it looks like and how it is used.

Detailed instructions on the usage of each template should exist on a subpage using {{doc}}.

  • When an articles is deemed too short to provide encyclopaedic coverage of a subject, then it is most likely a stub.
  • Use this to mark an article as a stub and to inform other editors of its need of expansion.

  • If there are several articles that have similar or identical names, you may wish to create a "disambiguation" page at the main article name, with the articles usually taking an extra phrase in brackets.
  • Use this template to mark disambiguation pages by adding a notice at the top.
  • Disambiguation pages are categorised in Category:Disambiguations.

General wiki templatesEdit

{{clear}}, {{clear|left}}, and {{clear|right}}

  • Use {{clear}} to force a break in text and to move the text below floating objects (i.e. images and tables).
  • Use {{clear|left}} or {{clear|right}} to clear only left or right floats.

Main articleEdit

{{main|main article}}

  • Used at the start of a section to link to the main article for the subject.

Table of contentsEdit

{{ToC}} or {{Tocright}}

  • Table of contents (TOC) usually appear on articles after the introductory paragraph on the left.
  • Use this to position/float the TOC at the beginning of the article, or floated on the right (see this page for an example). It should only when it is absolutely necessary.

  • Used to link to a similar article in Wikipedia.

  • Used for content taken directly from Wikipedia.
